Question for New York gun owners?

I'm in the Army and I'm flying to upstate New York, then Atlanta for leave. I have a few pistols I'd like to bring with me, and I was wondering if anyone knew if i could bring them through NY without a hle, or if I should just fedex them to Atlanta?
