sorry but he is jealous ,that his x found someone to make her want to do better in life and want more for her self he needs to do the samething( this has nothing to do with god ) you cant know the truth about everything that happend in their realationship (only god knows ) maybe he didnt treat her well in private just be suportive but incourage him to move on
