Is this Plausible........?

Please don't make fun of my question if Im wrong or this theory has been for a while. Is it possible that the when a star is condensed to form a black hole that I remains its spherical shape but has so much gravity that everything gets sucked in kind of like a magnet. The equator of a star spins faster than the poles so could this justify the spinning disks of debris that get sucked in eventually or just orbit the black holes? If this is possible what happens to the star when it is at the stage of a black hole? By the way Im looking into reading general relativity and such to understand these things better so please explain nicely if needed.
