Can someone explain to hockey to me?

i seriously dont understand hockey. all i know is that you shoot a puck in the other teams goal with a stick. I love watching hockey anyway but i know i would like it a lot more if i understood it. Does anyone know how to explain the basics to me? (in a way that a 14 year old girl would understand)
