Question for Muslims concerning extremists in theocratic countries?

Do you believe they are following the Koran the way they should? Do you believe that gays should be hanged and victims of and should be executed? I am not attacking; I am trying to clear something up. I hear Islam is a peaceful religion on one hand; then I never see Muslims in the West stand up for themselves and denounce those that are doing these things. The silence is almost deafening and leads alot of us to believe that you agree with them to some extent. So please, what are your thoughts on this? Thank you in advance. Please, no Muslim bashing from others; this is a serious question. Thanks!
